Really sad.

I commissioned a project in an isolated area of Russia, and had to fly Areoflop to get there, was not a very relaxing couple of flights, due to that airlines reputation.

What’s your impression of Russia overall?

Extremely unsettling, especially after reading that the plane had known corrosion issues.

There's also videos online from inside the plane. Sad

I went there quite a while back, and went to a remote area that was built near a bauxite mine, which is used to make aluminum, for military purposes.

So not really representative about how it is in Russia in larger cities now.

I really felt bad for the people of Russia that I met, they did not deserve the damp grey blanket of socialism.

A side note, as this area was developed for the "war" effort, and required people with special skills, it appeared that the officials hand picked women to settle there, for obvious reasons.

They were all absolutely stunning, with features from the north east corner of Russia.

The guys from the US and Europe who were there long for the long term, all had girl friends, and some of them brought them back with them, with not favorable results.
A guy with a different US company I worked for, "imported" a Russian women, and he ended up shooting himself.

Even today, I still don't think its a place one would want to vacation in.

They say 40 died in fire.....but at least it wasn't like the millions we let starve to death back in the days of the USSR.
