How much we get taxed

Just completed my tax filing the other day. Stopped to consider how many times our dollars get taxed.

You earn money, you pay tax.
You save some of that money in the bank and earn interest....that interest gets taxed.
When you spend that money on things, you get taxed.
If you purchase property with that money, the property gets taxed every year.

How many times are we allowing the government to tax the same damned dollars?! And this doesn't include the taxes if you own a business and pay employees and how that money is then taxed repeatedly.

Well Primo
I am not sure exactly what your tax situation in the USA is but I would imagine it is similar to what we have in Canada.
Our Revenue Canada slogan is BOHICA!!!!
When we get our tax forms it comes with a quart of Petroleum Jelly!
It seems to help as they shove the Taxes up your behind!
And for those that don't know what BOHICA means
B - BEND
O - OVER
H - HERE
I - IT
C - COMES
A - AGAIN

I have my own company and we are taxed at about 50%. If I take money out of the company i get taxed at about 50%
Makes you really want to pay taxes eh?

Agree completely, but we, actually our idiot PM, has gone one better than your government, we have the carbon TAX, which is, as it is called,... nothing more than a TAX.

Which boils down to,... taxing the atmosphere,...

Mr. Dress Up got so much negative country wide feed back, that the psycho came up with a scheme to buy back some votes with a refund in personal taxes, which he said was to lesson the burden on the population by the carbon TAX, but everybody with any intelligence, knows that is not the case.

Nobody should be taxed for being responsible by saving money and even receiving returns on investments, both of which benefit the country.

But when you have a government like our current one, that caters to the socialist losers, and unionists, that's what you get.

Unfortunately we have no choice but to pay for the goodies we received or you can always live in Bermuda or Monaco.

Let's not forget how we got doubled taxed when they got rid of pst/hast to the present gst.
Actually, the overall tax rate became lower with the GST, which for example is 0% on groceries.

Plus it replaced a hidden tax, MST, of 13.5% on Canadian manufactures and producers, with a 0% tax, any and all Canadian manufactures goods, which meant that the cost to Canadians, went down in price over night.
PLUS, gave an advantage to Canadian producers, something the current government thinks is done by allowing corruption..

The original scheme, must have been Fiberal, had goods taxed twice, once on the manufacture, and then at the retail level.

Let's not forget we can get sick, spend months in the hospital and not pay a dime.
Agreed.

But I think this thread is about the ridiculous methods of taxation, and how much tax revenue is wasted, an example, tax a component of the atmosphere, and then wast millions giving it back.
