They are so paranoid that they think because they are black they are not nominated the last two years.

I believe that the president of the Academy is black. Is there any chance that the people who nominate the movies, actors, etc. just didn't like the films or performances as much as they did others. Could it possibly be that there was no racism involved at all and yet no black films or actors were chosen? Impossible! Right?

I think it does a disservice to the effort to treat all people equally and to ignore race, gender, etc. by always accusing others (with blanket statements) of wrong-doing. White privilege.....does that mean that every Caucasian automatically gets a free pass? Has ever African American been mistreated? All men are misogynistic? Every woman has been a victim? It goes on and on......

If there is something shady going on at the oscars, prove it and bring them down. If any racism or sexism occurs, we should expose it and get rid of it. But these need to happen on an individual basis.

Should we go to a system where each "race" is represented in every business based on their proportion of the population? Will there suddenly be a majority of Caucasian players in the NBA? Will 52% of every organization have to be made up of females? Where the hell are all the Asians in the NHL? Personally, I'd be insulted if I was promoted into any position just because I am Hispanic and a quota had to be reached. Judge me on my abilities and my actions....the rest shouldn't matter.

Here we go again. With all due respect I never understood why the government hires minorities with less education and experience that the white folks that are better qualified.

But the minority buys it.

The President of the Academy is a black woman. this is similar to the Eric Garner case in Staten Island where the highest ranking officer on he scene is a Black Woman.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.

By Golly she may be onto something.

Charlotte Rampling: It’s ‘racist to whites’ to discuss Oscar’s lack of diversity

Charlotte Rampling, an English actor known for playing Evelyn Vogel in TV’sDexter and as a film icon of the Swinging Sixties, went on France’s Europe 1 radio station to discuss the lack of diversity in this year’s Oscar acting nominations — particularly, how she thinks it’s no big deal, and, if anything, drawing attention to it is “racist to whites.”

“One can never really know, but perhaps the black actors did not deserve to make the final list,” added Rampling, who was nominated in the best actress category for her role in 45 Years, a movie about a rich white couple experiencing marital troubles.

Rampling went on to say she thinks any sort of quota system to encourage diversity within nominees would be ill-thought, because “these days everyone is more or less accepted.”

“Why classify people?” she asked. “People will always say ‘Him, he’s not as handsome’ or ‘Him, he’s too black’ or ‘He’s too white.’ But does that necessarily mean there should be lots of minorities everywhere? What does it mean that [black actors] still think that they’re a minority?”

I guess Rampling’s right in the sense that there would have to be at least one single black actor nominated for them to “think they’re a minority.” Right now, statistically at least, black actors can’t really even be sure that they exist.

[h=1]Simple Math Proves the Oscars Are Not Racist[/h]
Remember when Jamie Foxx won an Oscar for best actor? The people calling the Oscars racist don’t.
Over the years 10 black actors and actresses have won for best acting of their gender. That’s 10 out of 80 winners being black, that’s 12.5%. It seems to fit proportionally with the US black population of about 13%. The Oscars are not racist, people need to stop being offended by absolutely everything.

I guess being nominated on merit over color isn't the way it should be? It's sickening to constantly hearing the race card being used as a threat.

Ice Cube just hit the nail on the head.

The whole "Boycott Oscars" thing is ridiculous. There are bigger problems in the world and you wanna boycott an awards show that literally means nothing? The Oscars are an entertainment show, that's it.

Also, they're not racist, they're just really, really, stupid.

I just find these amusing.

and you can't say I'm racist...I'm a minority.

Ever notice all the bitching from asians, hispanics, native americans, etc. that weren't nominated for things.
