HIV is sexist.
A woman is twice as likely to catch the virus from an infected partner in a heterosexual relationship than a man is.
And homosexual men are at even greater risk. They're more than 20 times as likely to get infected from an HIV-positive partner than partners in a heterosexual relationship.
Now scientists at Microsoft Research and the have a clue about why these disparities exist.
Only the strongest, most evolutionary "fit" versions of the virus tend to infect a man when he has sex with an HIV-positive woman, scientist report Thursday in the journalScience.

Diagnosed in the mid 80's and not much has improved for a cure. You guys find that odd or the pharmaceutical companies throwing a monkey at it?.

A little bit of sanity: having HIV doesn't necessarily mean you will die from it, or even suffer in any way. You can be a carrier and neer see symptoms, but you can pass it on. And the number if higher than MAL says.

Keep in mind it's the same with Herpes: a huge percentage of the population carry it, but don't show symptoms. I'd bet the majority of people on this board have a herpes virus dormant in their bodies and it won't make a bit of difference to your health or wellbeing.
